Giving Back

Education is a right, not a privilege.

As the daughter of an immigrant family, education was of paramount importance. Education was my ticket out of a low-income life. It was, and continues to be, the key that unlocked boundless opportunity. And it’s one EVERY child deserves. That’s why I’m a passionate supporter of Pratham.

Pratham is an innovative learning organization created to improve the quality of education in India. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham has grown in both scope and scale, with programs today reaching children and youth across the country.

Touted as one of the top 100 NGOs (non-government organizations) worldwide, and with over 92% of profits going DIRECTLY back to the population that it serves, Pratham has changed the lives of over 75 million kids and counting, despite the hardships that the global pandemic has placed on educational institutions.

As one of the largest non-governmental organizations in India, Pratham focuses on high-quality, low-cost and replicable interventions to address gaps in the education system. Working  directly with children and youth as well as through large-scale collaborations with government systems, Pratham programs reach millions of lives every year. Pratham’s Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach has demonstrated proven impact on children’s learning outcomes and is now being adapted to contexts outside India.

40% of the World’s Illiterate Children are in India

Almost HALF the world’s future generations that cannot read or write live in ONE country. By not addressing their need for education, we are condemning them–and the rest of the world–to increasing poverty levels, child abuse, child labor, and so on. The impact leads to greater loads on our Mother Earth, too.

I believe we are ALL connected. Much like a plant, if any part of it is diseased, the whole being cannot be considered healthy. I believe it is our responsibility to support children everywhere so all of our children, and our planet, can thrive.

My family has been involved in various ways with Pratham for the better half of ten years now. My kids annually participate in the Summer Read-A-Thon, which is a signature program that is designed to keep kids Stateside reading over the summer break, as well as to raise their awareness for the needs of their peers that are less fortunate than they. I also serve as a Board Member for the Austin Chapter of Pratham. So, naturally, when I started my coaching/consulting business, it was important to me that I find even more ways to give back to this impactful organization that has changed the lives of so many children. Join me, and help make a world of difference.
