Abandon Attachment to Success and Failure

by | Oct 3, 2019 | Yoga

People will question your choices in life. They will question your career choices, your desire to participate (or not participate) in certain social activities, your parenting. Sadly, it happens all the time, whether the intentions are good or not, and to varying degrees. Sometimes, you will wind up second-guessing your choices because other people plant seeds of doubt in your mind, or rather, you have *allowed* them to plant those seeds. But as long as you are doing the best that you can, and being mindful of your choices, actions, and words, there is no reason for the cloud of judgement to exist. Find stillness in your day. Hold strong to your truth. Like a mighty tree, be rooted and bend when the winds blow. I try not to make anything I post associate with a particular religion, in the spirit of inclusion of all. The following quote just happens to be from the Gita, as I feel the message is so applicable. As Shri Krishna tells Arjun when he is faced with his moral dilemma in the Bhagavad Gita, “Be steadfast in the performance of your duty, O Arjun (us all), abandoning attachment to success and failure. Such equanimity is called Yoga.”
